We're back....

After fifteen long, long years, Show-Me State Live has risen from its grave. It has shaken off the dust and rot and is back to feast upon the FLESH OF THE LIVING MUAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

Okay, maybe not. But we are back and ready for a spooky, creepy, terrifying Halloween themed model horse show! Come join us for some wholesome horror! (We promise no jump-scares—we wouldn’t put the ponies at risk!)

The Haunting of Show-Me State Live is a NAMHSA (North American Model Horse Showers Association) member. The show is a NAN (North American Nationals) qualifying show and any horse placing first or second in any class (except "Fun Classes") will receive a card that qualifies them for entry in the NAN show for 2022/2023. (Visit www.namhsa.org for more information.)

Frequently Asked Questions

I may or may not be asking myself questions here just to have a bit of fun, but the answers could be useful. Or maybe I'm just up to some Halloween mischief...

  • What was Show-Me State Live?
Show-Me State Live was a NAN-Qualifying model horse show hosted in Joplin, Missouri, by me, Sarah Crites, and my parents, Don and Kathy, in 2006. The show was much beloved and cherished, but did not survive my graduation, move to Kentucky, and college/law school years. It languished in our memories and died... but it hasn't stayed dead.
  • Why all the creepy nonsense?
Well, I have a zombie show and it's Halloween. Seems like fun to me!
  • So... can we wear costumes to the show?
Yes! Costumes at the spookiest show of the year are highly encouraged-- with one caveat: please, please, please do not wear anything that will hinder your movements or will dangle and drag in such a way that it could endanger your models or the models of others. Otherwise, go for it!
  • Are you going to take the FAQ section seriously at any point?
Ugh, fine. I suppose I can start that now.
  • Can anyone show?
Absolutely! The Haunting is a show for everyone. First show or hundredth, we'd love to have you. Entrants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • May I bring horses to sell?
Yes! Please do! Remember that each entry only comes with one table, so plan accordingly, but we encourage sales!
  • May we come visit the show even if we aren't showing?
Sure! Most showers love talking about the model horse hobby and there will probably be some selling going on if you're interested. Please remember if you do come in that the horses being shown are not toys and should not be handled or touched without specific permission from the owner.
